Telkom, Krakatau Steel Commemorates 72nd Anniversary of Indonesia in Banten

Anyer, August 17, 2017 - PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Tbk) and PT Krakatau Steel Tbk and the other State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Banten Province held a ceremony to commemorate the 72nd Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in Anyer Beach, Banten Province. President Director of Telkom, Alex J. Sinaga, acted as an inspector in the ceremony. The ceremony was held with the spirit of "BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri" (SOEs Present for the Nation) program, and it was attended by the President Director of Krakatau Steel, Mas Wigrantoro Roes Setiyadi, and members of Krakatau Steel’s board of directors, Indonesian SOE Minister’s special staff Budi Gunadi Sadikin, employees of TelkomGroup and Krakatau Steel, veterans, public figures and students in Anyer, Banten Province.

Through the ceremony to commemorate the 72nd Anniversary of Indonesia, SOEs want to firm their commitment in developing the nation and bring positive impact to the public. President Director of Telkom, Alex J. Sinaga, asserted, "BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri program is a synergy activity of all SOEs to show that the existence of SOEs give benefits to all people in Indonesia."

Meanwhile, President Director of Krakatau Steel, Mas Wigrantoro Roes Setiyadi, explained that SOEs have to give a real contribution to the people because SOEs are established to improve the welfare of people in Indonesia.

After holding the ceremony, Telkom President Director Alex J. Sinaga and Krakatau Steel President Director Mas Wigrantoro Roes Setiyadi awarded 20 students in Banten who have participated in the "Siswa Mengenal Nusantara" (Introducing Indonesia to Students) program. Besides that, Alex turned over "Bedah Rumah Veteran" (Veterans’ house renovation) program symbolically to a representative of veterans.

Through "Siswa Mengenal Nusantara" program, Telkom and Krakatau Steel sent representatives of students from Banten Province to Lampung Province for eight days, starting from 19th of July 2017. The students who represent their school and region ar expected to exchange information and knowledge about art and culture, social and economy, so they could strengthen the national bonds, union and integrity.

Then, Telkom and the Military District Command (Kodam) III/Siliwangi renovated veterans’ houses. The program is a part of "BUMN Hadir untuk Negeri" program, and it renovates veterans’ houses to be inhabitable. 75 of 150 targeted houses have been renovated completely.

In commemorating the 72nd Anniversary of Indonesia, Telkom and Krakatau Steel also held a long march on Sunday and provided assistance worth Rp2.34 billions to people in Banten. The assistance consists of Broadband Learning Center (BLC), roads and bridges renovation, clean water facilities, art gallery development, and aid for underprivileged families and special assistance for Badui community.

The 5K long march held around the town square of Serang was participated by more than 20.000 people, and 72 prize packages were given to lucky participants. The Grand Prize was two Umrah (minor Hajj) travel packages, and each package is available for two people. The long march is a part and implementation of #AyoBerjalan (Let’s Walk) program that was held simultaneously by SOEs in 34 provinces across Indonesia. Besides that, there are booths from SOEs and MSMEs that showed various products in the event.

The commemoration of the 72nd Independence Day of Indonesia was closed by performances and competitions that are commonly held in the Independence Day, such as sack race, tug-of-war, and pole climbing (Panjat Pinang). The competitions were participated by the employees of TelkomGroup and Krakatau Steel, and representatives of SOEs in Banten and locals around Anyer Beach.
