JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS - Jakarta Police Chief Insp. Gen. M. Iriawan declines that they’re attempting to criminalize ulemas by naming Habib Rizieq as a suspect. Insp. Gen. Iriawan even swears that the accusation is not true. "I swear in the name of Allah. If we were (criminalizing ulemas), we’ve committed a big sin," Iriawan said at Widya Chandra, South Jakarta, Monday (5/6).

Iriawan said they named Habib Rizieq as a suspect to uphold the law. "The Chairman of MUI and the Vice President have clarified about it. It’s a big sin. We’re just upholding the law," he said.

According to him, there’s no single case that’s manipulated to discredit someone. "We can’t manipulate a case," he said.

Habib Rizieq and Firza Husein have been named as suspects in ‘baladacintarizieq’ pornography case.

It is said that Habib Rizieq is currently in Saudi Arabia. The police have asked the Interpol to issue a red notice for Rizieq, and they have spread Rizieq’s wanted posters to police stations. (dtc/mag)
