JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – Elect Jakarta Govenror Anies Baswedan has reiterated his plan to end the North Jakarta Reclamation Project, in his visit to Bukit Duri, South Jakarta.

"Most of the floods that happen her (in Jakarta) are not happening because the residents are mismanaging their environment. They are caused by flow of water from Bogor; from the mountain, which is way the water is cold," Anies said, Tuesday (20/6).

Anies vows to work to end the floods in the capital city, but emphasized that the reclamation project is not the solution.

"Insya Allah, I will end hthe floods, but this is not the right place to explain the plan in detail. What’s for sure is that I will take care of the upstream area and tidy the downstream area," he said.

Anies clams flood will happen across Jakarta evenly if the reclamation project continues. He explained that reclamation is not like what many people have been imagining as the islands will block water from flowing further into the sea.

"Reclamation means buildint islands in front of Jakarta. If Jakarta loves flood, then lets carry on," jelasnya. (dtc/mag)
