Densus 88 Arrests Alleged Terrorists in Cianjur and Sukabumi

JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – Densus 88 Antiterror team has arrested an alleged terrorists by the name of Abu Umar alias AAB from Bobojong Kampong, Sukabumi, West Java.

"The alleged terrorist was apprehended in Caringin, West Java, who was visiting his sick parent-in-law," said Yusri Yunus, Public Relations Chief, West Java Police Tuesday (11/7). Yusri said Abu Umar was arrested at around 15.00 West Indonesia Time (WIB).

Abu Umar’s arrest was a follow up on the recent arrests. "Just before Eid al-Fitr, we arrested Rz and Az in Cianjur. Based on the arrests, we investigated further and apprehended HSS on Monday (10/7). Then we caught AAB alias Abu Umar in Sukabumi on Tuesday (11/7). AAB is from Cianjur," Yusri said.

Yusri further revealed that HSS supplied bullets to Rz and Az. Some of them held the role of developing strategies to attack police stations while HSS supplied the necessary equipment, such as bullets.

The apprehended suspects are allegedly members of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) terrorist cell. "They are from the Garis Cianjur group, which is a new cell of JAD. They planned to attack people of a certain ethnic and two police stations," Yusri said. (dtc/mfb)
