Chinese nationals are seen being arrested for cyber crime (ANTARA)
JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – The House of Representatives said the government should review the visa-free program it is providing to a number of nations, especially the visa-free facility for China. The House’s Commission III member Arsul Sani said this is important to protect the national sovereignty and security.
According to him, many visitors have been misusing the facility. "The government has been unable to monitor the movements of foreign nationals vising the Indonesia maximally," Arsul said, quoted by dpr.go.id, Tuey8/8).
Asrul added that, although the policy aimed at boosting the national foreign exchange gain, it is compromising the country’s security and has unsettled the nation.
The Commission III on Monday (7/8) visited Maluku over complaints that most of the foreign visitors visiting the province are illegally staying to become local fishermen.
"They are misusing their visit visa. This underscores the need to evalut the visa free program, which was launched to batehe national foreign exchange gain, but has not led to a significant increase. In fact, we are witnessing that more losses than benefits are being posted. Numerous crimes are being committed by foreign nationals visiting our country," he said.
"Recently, dozens of Chinese nationals were apprehended for committing cyber crime. This is an important lesson for us and the government must evaluate the visa free program," Asrul said.
