E-KTP Suspect Novanto Files Pretrial

JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – Representatives’ House Chairman Setya Novanto, who’s been named as a suspect in electronic ID card (e-KTP) corruption, has pleaded for a pretrial to the South Jakarta State Court.

"He’s been registered on 4th of September," said the South Jakarta State Court spokesman, Made Sutrisna, Tuesday (5/9).

The pretrial plea was registered under registration number 97/Pid.Prap/2017/PN Jak.Sel. However, the South Jakarta State Court hasn’t appointed any judge to lead the pretrial.

Novanto, a member of the Representatives’ House in the period of 2009-2014, was named as a suspect by the anti-graft commission (KPK) on Monday (17/7). Novanto is the fifth person who’s named as a suspect in e-KTP project corruption. Previously, KPK named four suspects comprising of Markus Nari, Andi Agustinus as known as Andi Narogong, and two former officials of the Internal Affairs Ministry, Irman and Sugiharto.

Novanto is named as a suspect in e-KTP corruption for allegedly involved in the e-KTP procurement process. Starting from the planning, budget arrangement, and goods and services procurement. The case investigation reveals that some of the House members are receiving an amount of money from the corruption. (dtc/rm)
