JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – Member of Indonesian Ombudsmen, Ninik Rahayu, wants a book written by Binsar Gultom unpublished as it’s considered containing a fatal mistake. The book author, Binsar, recommends a virginity test for brides.

"I want the book to be unpublished because it contains a fatal mistake," Ninik said, Monday (11/9).

According to Ninik, Binsar delivers her opinions in a wrong way, so it makes Ninik looks like she supports virginity test for brides. Despite this, Ninik is against the idea.

"I want Binsar to deliver my opinion in a right way," Ninik said firmly.

According to Ninik, Binsar’s way in delivering someone’s opinion could confuse the public. She considers that her opinion was clear, and virginity test has nothing to do with the high divorce rate.

Binsar’s name once arose in the mass media because she was very attractive when she pass judgment on a murder case that involved Jessica. Not long after that, Binsar got promoted to a judge in Bangka Belitung High Court.

According to him, virginity test is important. If the brides were not virgin, the government should take preventive and repressive action, such as delaying marriage. Binsar considers that a conflict in a family is caused by a forced marriage. For instance, a man must marry a woman that he made pregnant before marriage. Therefore, he came up with the idea to hold a virginity test to lower divorce rate and wrote it down on a book titled ‘Pandangan Kritis Seorang Hakim’ (A Critical View of a Judge). (dtc/rm)
