Jokowi: Regional Administration Heads Must Manage Regional Finance Carefully

JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo stated that he feels unfortunate with the officials, especially regional administration heads, including members of Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) in South Kalimantan who got arrested in the catch-in-the-act operation (OTT) conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He asks regional administration heads to be careful in managing regional finance.

"If there were evidence, legal facts, and some officials got caught, then arrest them," said President Jokowi to journalists while he was sharing basic commodities in his visit to Pasar Baru, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Friday (15/9), as quoted from

Therefore, Jokowi asserts that regional administration heads must be careful in managing the state finance. "Regional Budget (APBD) and State Budget (APBN) belong to the nation," he said. Regarding illegal gratitudes, Jokowi also warns the officials to be careful with it. "They must be careful of everything," he said firmly.

In the last two days, KPK arrested the Regent of Batubara, North Sumatera named Arya Zulkarnain in their OTT. Arya was caught for receiving illegal gratitudes. Yesterday, KPK also caught the Chairman of South Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD), Iwan Rusmali, for a bribery in the arrangement of draft bylaws (Raperda).

Previously, in their OTT, KPK arrested the Mayor of Tegal, Siti Mashita, and Regent of Pamekasan, Ahmad Syafii, for receiving illegal gratitudes from a third party. (mag)
