Riau Prosecutors to Name Four Suspects in Road Lights Corruption

JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – The Riau Prosecutor’s Office announced it has named four suspects in the Pekanbaru Municipality Road Lights Project.

Assistant Prosecutor for Special Crimes, Riau Prosecutor’s Office, said the suspects comprise three people from the private sector and one civil servant from the Pekanbaru Gardening Office. However, Sugeng did not reveal the identity of the suspects.

"We will summon them as suspects to be questioned again next week. So I will reveal their identity and their modus operandi next week," Sugeng said, Tuesday (26/9).

The project was funded by the Riau Regional Budget in 2016.

"We are investigating the case with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to calculate the amount of money the government lost [from the corruption]. BPK will determine amount of money taken from the government. We are confident that the total reached Rp1.3 billion (US$97,181.76)," Sugeng said.(dtc/mfb)
