JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – After the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) announces the status of volcanic activities of Mt. Agung in Karangasem Regency, Bali Province that has reached level IV (Caution), TelkomGroup as an institution where its employees and infrastructures are located in the affected region, has heightened its anticipation. Telkom has secured its production goods, human resources, and prepared aid for people who may be affected by the disaster.
"We prioritize the security of telecommunication infrastructures in the nearest locations to Mt. Agung," said the Vice President Corporate Communication of Telkom, Arif Prabowo, in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/9).
According to him, they secure the infrastructures to ensure their telecommunication services would be able to support the communications and coordination in mitigating the disaster. Preventive and curative efforts are needed to guarantee their services work well. TelkomGroup has also prepared some alternatives to secure and recover the telecommunication services so TelkomGroup could maintain their services for customers.
The telecommunication infrastructures located near Mt. Agung consist of 36 sites of Telkomsel BTS (Base Transceiver Station), 4 PABXs (private automatic branch exchange) in Amlapura, Candidasa, Kintamani, and Bangli, 4 sites of OLT (Optical Line Termination) and radio in Tulamben, Sidemen, Bukit Tengah, and Bukit Penulisan.
"To support the disaster mitigation, TelkomGroup has prepared BTS Combat Telkomsel, Access Point Wifi.id, IndiHome Fiber and Wire Telephone in the location of the posts to assist staffs and evacuees," Arif Prabowo added.
"Telkom forms ‘ TelkomGroup Mt. Agung Eruption Alert Post’ in the office of Telkom Klungkung to maintain the telecommunication services, both fixed broadband and cellular, so people can communicate smoothly, easily, and comfortable," Arif Prabowo added.
In the alert post, with the spirit of ‘SOEs Present for the Nation’ program, TelkomGroup provides telecommunication facilities that are centrally located in three locations, which consist of a Command Post located in Karangasem (Dermaga Tanah Ampo, Banjar Dinas Tanahampo, Ulakan Village, Manggis District, Karangasem Regency), emergency post in Suwecapura Sports Center, Klunkung, and Mt. Agung monitoring post in Rendang, Karangasem.
The monitoring posts or evacuation posts in Karangasem, Klungkung, and Buleleng are facilitated with internet service from Telkomsel (Telkomsel Mobile BTS) and IndiHome Fiber to help staffs in the North Bali posts to communicate. Meanwhile, in the evacuation locations, such as Klungkung, Karangasem, Abang, Buleleng, Telkomsel has optimized the sites to smoothen their communication services.
To help the evacuees, TelkomGroup has distributed ready-to-serve foods, sleeping mats, and blankets. Telkom will send more aids based on the needs and situation and condition of Mt. Agung, including medical workers and medicine. Telkom hopes their efforts to anticipate the increasing activities of Mt. Agung would help concerned parties and minimize the impact of the disaster.
