JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – To anticipate the increasing volcanic activity of Mt. Agung in Karangasem Regency, Bali Province, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) is preparing a plan to control telecommunication infrastructures and services around Mt. Agung with the assumed disaster impact within a radius of 12 km, 25 km, 50 km to 100 km. Telkom also secures the production equipment and prepares the human resources and emergency aid for the locals.
Director of Telkom Network & IT Solution, Zulhelfi Abidin, said the current services of TelkomGroup, such as telephone, internet, and cellular service, work normally. The telecommunication infrastructures are also in a good condition. "The condition of infrastructures within the radius of 12 km from the peak of Mt. Agung are in a normal condition and work well," Zulhelfi said.
He mentioned that 4 PABXs consisting of Bangli, Amlapura, Candidasa, and Kintamani PABXs. And 36 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) are within the radius of 12 km. There are also 4 Optical Line Termination (OLT) in Tulamben, Sidemen, Bukit Tengah and Bukit Penulisan.
"To maintain the services, our main priority is monitoring and securing the telecommunication infrastructures. This is our effort to maintain the services so it would work normally, especially for communications and coordination to mitigate disaster," Zulhelfi added.
Besides securing the infrastructures, TelkomGroup has also prepared Telkomsel mobile BTS, Access Point Wifi.id, IndiHome Fiber and wired telephone in the evacuation posts to support the disaster mitigation. There are 10 Mobile GraPARI (MOGI) service spots, Telkomsel service booths (TO), and Motor Recharge (MORE) that are prepared to provide free phone service for evacuees and the other cellular services.
The 10 service spots are located in Ulakan post, Banjar Jelantik Klungkung post, Banjar Sengguan Klungkung post, Sutasoma Field, Nyuhtebel post, Pasar Manggis post, Pesedahan post, Swecha Pura Sports Center post, Nyuhtebel Singaraja post, and Tabanan post. "Telkom also builds ‘TelkomGroup’s Evacuation Post for Mt. Agung Eruption’ at the office of Telkom Klungkung to maintain telecommunication services, both fixed broadband and cellular, so people could communicate quickly, easily, and smoothly," Zulhelfi said.
To show that State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) present for the nation, Telkom also builds a post named ‘Posko Siaga’ to provide telecommunication facilities in three locations, comprising of a command post in Karangasem, emergency post in Swacepura Sports Center, and Mt. Agung monitoring post in Rendang, Karangasem. All of the posts are installed with the internet network that uses Telkomsel and IndiHome Fiber as a facility to make communications easier. Telkom works hard to maintain the telecommunications service so it would operate normally in the evacuation posts.
"For people who need them, we have prepared free phone facilities in evacuation posts like in Swacepura Sports Center," Zulhelfi said.
Telkom also synergizes with SOEs to provide assistance through ‘SOEs Present for the Nation’ emergency post for Mt. Agung under the coordination of PT ITDC Nusa Dua main post. Therefore, the aid would be distributed accurately, and it won’t overlap with the other aid. The posts are located in three areas, which are Karangasem Post coordinated by BRI, and Telkom participates in the area; Klungkung Post coordinated by Pertamina, and Buleleng Post coordinated by ITDC.
The distributed aid consists of ready-to-serve food, sleeping mats, blankets, clean water, powdered milk for baby, masks and bottled water. The other assistance like medical workers and medicine are also prepared based on the needs and situation of Mt. Agung. The assistance and anticipations are expected to make the disaster mitigation effort work well and minimize the disaster impact. (mag)
