JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – The Golkar Party is estimated to rank 4th in the upcoming general elections in 2019 – which would be the worst result since the party’s founding – with fingers pointing towards Setya Novanto as the party’s chairman. Setya Novanto, who is a suspect in the e-KTP corruption, has made actions that is pulling down Golkar Party’s electability.

"In just a month, seven regional heads who are Golkar Party cadres have been arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Golkar is winning the competition of corruption in Indonesia. This is an extraordinary achievement for Golkar in demising itself," Ricky said in a press release sent to gres.news, Saturday (7/10).

Ricky satirized that the Golkar Party under Setya Novanto is working hard to gain KPK’s attention. He suggests the party to just declare Setya Novanto as its chairman for life.

"Why not? Golkar has only 1.5 years to rebound its electability. With the current situation, that is impossible," he said.

Ricky further criticized that Setya Novanto is now stronger than former Indonesian president Soeharto. "Even Soeharto lost his seat as President and the Golkar Party’s board of supervisors chairman, but Setya Novanto is not going to lose his seat as the party’s chairman and Chairman of the House of Representatives. It is not impossible that he will be endorsed to be president of this republic, Ricky said.

Meanwhie, The Golkar Party is in potential internal conflict with Setya Novanto firing Yorrys Raweyai as the party’s Coordinator of Politics, Law and Security Affairs. Former Golkar Party Chairman, now Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, said people should let the party resolve the issue internally. "It will resolve by itself," he said, Lampoung, Friday (6/10). (dtc/mag)
