JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) is collecting evidence to respond a confession of Regent of Purwakarta, Dedi Mulyadi. He claimed that he was asked to pay Rp10 billion as a "political cost" by a certain mischievous official. According to Dedi, he was asked to pay the money for his candidacy in the upcoming West Java Gubernatorial Election.
Chairman of Bawaslu, Abhan, said they will keep collecting more evidence although they haven’t received any report related to the issue. "Bawaslu haven’t (received) the report, but we have asked the officials of Bawaslu in West Java to collect data," Abhan said at the anti-graft commission (KPK) Headquarters, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday (10/10).
Although the statement of Dedi Mulyadi hasn’t been proven, Abhan stated they could use it as the initial information. Then, Bawaslu will monitor the next stage until the candidacy process.
Until now, Bawaslu doesn’t have enough power to ask Dedi directly for clarifications. "We can’t just ask him for clarifications. We have to collect evidence first. Whether we would ask him for clarifications or not, it depends on the data collection," Abhan said.
As far as it goes, Abhan said they heard the similar issue in East Java. However, they only heard it from the news.
Previously, Dedi Mulyadi claimed that he was asked to pay Rp10 billion by someone to move forward to the West Java Gubernatorial Election. Dedi has met some parties and reported the name of the person who asked him to pay to the Secretary General of Golkar Party, Idrus Marham. (dtc/mag)
