JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) politician at the House of Representatives, Anggawira, warns Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Pandjaitan, to not pressure President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, to continue the Jakarta reclamation project. There are contradicting regulations in relation to the project.
"Mr. Luhut must not attempt to influence President Jokowi’s view. There are colliding regulations and no Building Permits (IMB) have been issued on the islands," said Anggawira in a press release sent to gres.news, Sunday (Oct.22).
Anggawira exemplified the Presidential Decree No.52/106 on Reclamations that collides the Presidential Regulation No.122.2012 on Reclamation on Coastal Areas and Small Islands.
"The regulations that Luhut has been pointing out are not enough to revoke the moratorium on the reclamation project," Anggawira said.
Furthermore, the studies conducted by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs used as grounds to carry out the project lacks transparency as the report has not been available for the public.
"Many regulations are overlapping, permits have not been granted and researches have not been published for the public to read. The public deserves to gain access to the research as the project has direct impact on the welfare of people in living in coastal areas," Anggawira concluded. (mag)
