JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has said that the government is currently working to fix about 42,000 colliding regulations that are impeding Indonesia from catching up with the rapid global developments.

"I still have to deal with these 42,000 regulations. I will consult with law experts on this. I should at least resolve half of the total to accelerate the country. I want Indonesia to step on the acceleration pedal, but there’s this problem," the President said, at the JIExpo, Jakarta, Monday (Oct.23).

Jokowi claims that he has already dealt with 3,153 problems regional regulations. He urges regional governments to start making good-quality regulations.

He also said the House of Representatives to stop viewing regulations as merely projects and start making good-quality regulations too.

In the future, Jokowi explained, it will not be the stronger nation beating the smaller or medium-sized nations. It will be the faster nation beating the slower nation.

Meanwhile, the President also reiterated that the government is focused on building the country’s infrastructure. "I have already said that I want to be the ‘commander-in-chief of infrastructure’. I don’t want to be diverted to something else," he said. (rm)
