JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – Jakarta Vice Governor Sandiaga Uno stays firm that the Jakarta reclamation project will not be continued. As regards the islands that have already been built, Sandi said he will coordinate with relevant parties to discuss how they can be maximized.
"Based on Jakartan’s mandate, we have decided to stop the reclamation," he said, Jakarta, Sunday (Oct.29).
Sandiaga said the Jakarta Government will soon discuss with he Ministry of Environmental and Forestry to discuss the possibilities of alternative uses of the man-made islands.
"The interesting issue now is how we can use the islands that have been built. We must discuss this matter with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. We will consider the number of new jobs that will be created. We will discuss the new jobs will be created for," Sandi said.
The Jakarta Government will also coordinate with the Jakarta House of Regional Representatives (DPRD DKI). Sandi vows transparency in all phases of the plan. (dtc/mfb)
