JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – The government will remove non-subsidized electricity for middle-class households, starting from 1,300 VA, 2,200 VA, to 3,300 VA electricity. The government will simplify the categories by replacing them with 4,400 VA electricity.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan stated their decision will help the public. It will also help them to use electric-powered vehicles.

"With enough power, as long as the tariff doesn’t increase, people will have an option to use electric-powered vehicles so they can charge their vehicles in their own house," Jonan said, Sunday (12/11).

The simplification only applies to customers of non-subsidized 1,300 VA, 2,200 VA, and 3,300 VA electricity. The categories will be replaced with 4,400 VA electricity.

Meanwhile, 4,400 VA to 12,600 VA electricity will be replaced by 13,000 VA electricity, and 13,000 VA electricity will be replaced with higher power temporarily. Therefore, household electricity customers will be divided into:

1. subsidized electricity customers (450 VA and 900 VA)
2. Non-subsidized 4,400 VA and 13,000 VA customers
3. Non-subsidized 13,000 VA (or above) customers

The increasing power won’t affect people’s electricity bill because they will be free of charge, and the electricity tariff won’t change.
