JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has ordered the convict of Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) corruption, Samadikun Hartono, to pay Rp169 billion in restitution. If he couldn't do it, the AGO would confiscate Samadikun's assets.

Attorney General Mohammad Prasetyo said the amount of money to refund the state loss is in accordance with the Supreme Court's ruling.

Previously, the Junior Attorney General for Specific Crime, Arminsyah, said Samadikun has stated that he's willing to pay the restitution. Last week, Samadikun discussed with the Central Jakarta Prosecutor's Office. They're ready to pay Rp169 billion in restitution.

Samadikun was one of the Indonesia's government most wanted fugitives after he escaped abroad. The Court had sentenced him guilty of misusing the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) bail-out funds worth Rp2.5 trillion for Bank Modern in 1998 when the Indonesian monetary crisis occurred.

On May 28, 2003, the Supreme Court has sentenced him to four years prison. However, Samadikun wasn't detained as he escaped in 2003.

The arrest of Samadikun by the Corruptors Search Team in China could make the AGO and the anti-graft commission (KPK) resolve other BLBI corruption cases. Such as the failed payment of BLBI obligor, Sjamsul Nursalim, in the AGO.

Separately, the Secretariat of the Mational Forum for Budget Transparancy (FITRA) asked law enforcers to resolve BLBI case clearly. Moreover, BLBI case would be expired. The law enforcers should issue a new letter to order an investigation (Sprindik) to resolve the money-laundering crimes (TPPU) in the corruption case.

However, the AGO refused to continue the investigation of BLBI case. According to the Junior Attorney General for Specific Crime (Jampidsus) Arminsyah, the whole legal proceedings of BLBI case has been cleared.

Previously, Attorney General Muhammad Prasetyo said the new Sprindik to resolve BLBI case should be considered wisely. So, it won't be easy for the suspects to plea a pretrial against the AGO.
