JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – Corruption may have spread across all sectors in Jakarta, after the corruption in the Transjakarta bus procurement and the flood self-management projects, prosecutors at the South Jakarta District Court is investigating into alleged corruption a sidewalk project. Yet, the project already implements e-budgeting.

Investigators have questioned up to 20 witnesses since April 2016, including head of the South Jakarta Public Works (Bina Marga) Agency Agustio Ruhut Seto. From the questionings, investigators claim they have enough evidence to name a few suspects.

"We have sufficient evidence, we will name the suspects after Eid-al-Fitr," said Sarjono Turin, Chief of the South Jakarta District Court, last week.

Sarjono revealed that there will be more than three suspects, whom refused to name just yet.

Meanwhile, the alleged corruption may have caused the government to lose Rp3.5 billion. The project was included in the State Budget 2015 and the South Jakarta Public Works is heading the project.

Investigators became suspicious when PT IM, the company who won the bid, delegated the project to another private company. Unfortunately, possibly a result of the company’s decision to delegate the project, the development failed to meet its deadline. The project started in October 2015 and should have been completed in December 2015.

In the case, prosecutors found several indications of manipulation. For example, the project document states that the sidewalk project is 70 percent completed. Yet, field studies by prosecutors reveal that only 30 percent has een completed.
