JAKARTA. GRES.NEWS – The investigation into the shooting of the house of a Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Jazuli Juwaini may have gotten more complicated as a suspect was found dead with a bullet in his head on Monday (15/5).
The suspect, police officer Teguh, was found laying down in the garage of his boarding house in Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan, on the same day he was questioned by the police.
Nonetheless, the police vows to continue the investigation. "Yes, the news is true. We are concerned about the incident," said Argo Yuwono, a spokesperson for the Jakarta Police, Monday (15/5).
Teguh was found dead at 07.00 West Indonesia Time (WIB), with his revolver found close to him. He was a logistics staff at the Satuan II Pelopor unit of the police’s Mobile Brigade.
The police are now questioning his colleagues regarding the incident to find out whether Teguh killed himself of was murdered. "We are still looking into the incident," police officer Argo said.
Teguh was intensively questioned as he was a logistics staff for the police’s shooting training programs in Ciputat, Tangerang. "He was being questioned concerning his responsibility," said Rikwanto, Chief of Public Relations, National Police, Monday (15/5).
Rikwanto explained that the police were finishing the last available bullets and one of the bullets misfired to the politician’s house. The distance between the training facility and the house is 250 meters.
Rikwanto did not reveal the police officer that misfired the shot, saying that the police are still investigating to find out which team made the shot.
The police suspects Teguh was stressed and killed himself. "We suspect that he was stressed becuase he was questioned," Rikwanto said.
Meanwhile, the police are still investigating the motive of the shooting to know whether there is another motive behind the ‘misfire’, such as terror.
"As for the motive, we will only find out once we know who made the shot. There are still numerous possiblities, including that (teror)," said Fadli Widiyanto, Chief of the Tangerang Police, Sunday (14/5). (dtc)
