The government has interest to maintain the favorable investment climate that supports the creations and innovations, for instance, by providing legal protection to trade secrets. Trade secrets are information with economic value in the field of technology or business.

Owners may use their trade secret for their own individual purpose or grant rights to use the trade secret to other parties for commercial purpose.

Any third party who reveal trade secret without permission are subject to a criminal charge, with the maximum prison sentence reaching two (2) years and/or a maximum fine of Rp300,000,000 (three hundred million rupiah).
