Importers in Indonesia may only import new goods to the country. Article 47 clause (1) of Law No.7/2014 on Trade stipulates that importers shall import goods in new condition.
Should importers decide to violate this law, Article 111, Law No.7/2014 on Trade states:
Importers importing goods that are not in new condition as stipulated by Article 47 clause (1) would be subject to criminal charges, namely 5 (five) years in prison and or a fine amounting to a maximum of Rp5,000,000,000 (five billion rupiah).
