JAKARTA, GRES.NEWS – The Golkar Party’s Jakarta Regional Executive Board (DPD) has concluded with a victory for Fayakhun Andriadi. His victory brings the party closer to supporting incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, alias Ahok, in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in 2017.

Fayakhun competed tightly against Taufan Eko Nugroho Rotorasiko, who eventually backed down. Taufan showed signes that he did not want to support Ahok.

Once elected, Fayakhun reiterated his intention to support Ahok in the next Jakarta regional elections, saying he will recommend the move to the party’s Central Executive Board (DPP). "Under the leadership of Mr. Setya Novanto, the Central Executive Board is now focused on the decentralization issue (within the party). The Central Executive Board listens to the aspirations of the people. Therefore, I am confident that the board will 99 percent support the recommendation, which will be based on the regional meeting," Fayakhun said.

Indeed, there is still the possibility that the Central Executive Board will not support the recommendation, but Fayakhun is firm on his stance. He claims that the Regional Executive Board of Golkar have agreed to support Ahok. "Now, we will hold a meeting and develop strategies for the future," he said.

Fayakhun said he will meet Ahok soon, and will also communicate with NasDem and Hanura. "We will provide unconditional support. Just one requirement for Mr. Ahok, improve Jakarta as best as he can," he said. (dtc)
